—Tye Chua Dance Company—

Tye Chua Dancers will be performing the Nutcracker, Choreography Showcase and Wild Things in the Spring of 2024!

In addition to offering the highest quality dance training in Kalamazoo, we are proud to offer three performance opportunities for dancers of all ages throughout the year. Our performances are condensed to around an hour, making them the perfect length for audiences of all ages!

Dancers in Ballet III through Advanced are eligible to become TCD Company members. We pride ourselves on our professionalism and technique while also keeping our rehearsals and performances enjoyable! Dance should be fun and we love sharing our craft with the community. It is our goal to promote dance in our community as a way to celebrate movement to diverse audiences.

Costuming is a big part of any dancer’s life, and we take our costumes very seriously, using the finest handcrafted costumes specially fitted to each dancer as needed. We have two costume rooms filled with beautiful fabrics, ribbon and 15 handmade tutus!

All performances take place in our beautiful space in Downtown Kalamazoo - inside the oldest public building in our city! We have a seating capacity of 400 and offer group discounts! Please contact us at info.tyechuadance@gmail.com for more information!

About the Shows

The Nutcracker - December - Follow Klara as she enjoys a Christmas party with her family, receiving a beautiful gift from her mysterious uncle, Herr Drosselmeyer. She travels through a snowy forest to the Land of Sweets where she meets wonderful dancers representing different foods from countries all over the world!

Choreography Showcase - February - We believe strongly in teaching the art of choreography to all our students. During the preparation for this show, we guide our dancers in movement, music selection, costuming, and, of course, dancing! This show features all new works by students, faculty and guest artists. It’s a wonderful show that truly showcases the trajectory of our young artists from early dancers through professional dancers.

Wild Things - May - Our Spring Ballet this season follows Max as he makes his way in and out of his dreamworld - this show is suitable for all ages!

COMPANY FEES

Our company fees include all master classes, rehearsals, costumes (except tights and shoes) and photo shoots. Junior and Advanced Company dancers register for the entire season, while our Workshops offer flexibility for dancers wishing to participate a la carte. Register for company via your portal!

Advanced Company - $700/year per family, or $78/month per family (September - May)

• Junior Company - $600/year per family, or $67/month per family (September - May)

• Advanced Workshop (Ballet IV-Advanced) - $275 per show run

• Ballet III Workshop - $225 per show run

• Ballet II Workshop - $125 per show run

• Pre Ballet - Ballet I Workshop - $100 per show run

• Creative Movement Workshop - $75 per show run

• Adult Dancer Workshop - $125 per show run
